Arnaud de Volder

Arnaud studied Philosophy and Theology at a Seminary before reading for a bachelors degree in Archaeology at the University of Wales and a Masters in Quaternary Science at the University of London. He has worked as a Field Archaeologist and Heritage Consultant in Ireland and the United Kingdom, including a project funded by the Heritage Council of Ireland researching and recording the remains of a deserted medieval town in the Southeast of Ireland for several years. Arnaud is currently completing research on Medieval Landscapes in Ireland, an interdisciplinary study that combines his interest philosophy, theology, liturgy, archaeology, and history. He is particularly interested in concepts of place (“placemaking”) and the impact of the physical and “thingly” component of our past and present, examining the role things and objects play in enabling and securing social life.
